SUMMARY:Dive into Dynamic Actions (APEX Series Presention 2)
DESCRIPTION:Are you new to APEX? Do you want to be able to take your applications to the next level with very little knowledge of JavaScript? \nIf so\, learning the basics of dynamic actions is a must! Dynamic actions are a powerful tool that allow you to quickly and easily define client-side behavior declaratively with little or no knowledge of JavaScript. However\, dynamic actions can still be daunting to a novice APEX developer. \nIn this session\, I’ll introduce and explain the concept of dynamic actions as I progress through a number of common\, real-world requirements that a developer may face. I will explain how to use dynamic actions to easily solve these problems. An application with examples ranging from basic to advanced will be available for download in order to facilitate further learning after the session. \nJackie McIlroy is an Oracle APEX developer with over 12 years of experience. She currently works as a Senior APEX developer for Insum Solutions. \nShe enjoys mentoring new APEX developers and helping her clients create awesome APEX applications. She maintains an APEX-related blog and is co-organizer of the Dallas/Fort Worth Oracle APEX Meetup group. \nYou must register at https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/6567762675794014723 if you want to attend this event. \n

SUMMARY:Oracle Indexing Internals and Best Practices seminar
DESCRIPTION:Richard Foote will be running his highly acclaimed Oracle Indexing Internals and Best Practices seminar around the country in July and August. The seminar has now been run in 20 countries and is of much benefit to DBAs\, Developers\, Solution Architects and anyone else interested in designing\, developing or maintaining high performance Oracle-based databases/applications. Many databases/applications are suboptimal and run inefficiently primarily because an inappropriate indexing strategy has been implemented. \nThe last 44 attendees to attend the seminar all rated it a 5 out of 5 training experience\, so this is your opportunity to enhance your technical skills that can be immediately applied back at your workplace. \nNumbers are strictly limited due to the small class nature of the seminars\, so if interested you are advised to book early to avoid disappointment. \n

SUMMARY:Customizing the Interactive Grid with Plugins (APEX Series\, Presentation 7)
DESCRIPTION:Do you have requirements for your APEX applications that cannot be fulfilled using the declarative options of the Interactive Grid? Join this session to explore the issue and view solutions in live demonstrations. The interactive grid has quickly become the number one component in most APEX applications. Although APEX 18.1 continues to extend its capabilities\, JavaScript customizations will always be necessary. After exploring API\, you will better understand the underlying architecture and you’ll be able to build superior applications and speed up development. You might even start to think like an Interactive Grid! Learn how can you turn hundreds of lines of JavaScript Initialization Code into plugins. You will see a collection of plugins\, which will make doing your advanced customizations a piece of cake. \nMenno Hoogendijk has always had a passion for databases and application development. He has been working with Application Express since 2008 and has been a certified full-time APEX developer for six years. He has presented at APEX World\, APEXConnect\, and Kscope; sharing his knowledge with other people is something he’s enthusiastic about. Over the past several years\, he’s gained a lot of experience using both APEX and JavaScript. \nYou must register at https://register.gotowebinar.com/register/8626549820599996417 if you want to attend this event. \n

SUMMARY:Automated Browser Tests with APEX (APEX Series\, Presentation 8)
DESCRIPTION:This session will look more closely at how APEX developers can use Test Driven Development and Data Driven Testing to improve the quality of their APEX applications. \nSimon Hunt In 2002\, Simon spotted APEX as an emerging technology that could have great utility in the public sector and then worked with senior consultants from Oracle to establish it as a development stream. Simon has now been developing Oracle APEX applications in UK Defence for over 12 years on various projects\, holding two roles as a lead developer. During that time\, Simon has been responsible for the development and support of over 30 production APEX applications ranging from small work group user bases to full enterprise systems with user communities in excess of 10\,000 registered users. Defence has generally been slow to adopt Agile\, and Simon has been at the forefront of implementing working practices that succeed both in a public sector organization and with a 4GL framework such as APEX. \n

SUMMARY:APEX Internal Workspace (APEX Series\, Presentation 11)
DESCRIPTION:After installation of APEX we can login only to one workspace – internal. In this workspace we can create “real” workspaces. Most likely this step is known to many APEX developers. But there is a lot more to do in internal workspace then just creating new workspaces and this tasks are (per documentation) done by instance administrator\, but at the same time it’s good that also developers know and understand what is going on in internal workspace. In this presentation I will highlight some of the features that are sometimes overlooked and I will also talked about features that developers should at least know that they exist. \nAljaz Mali is an employee of Abakus Plus where he works as IT solution architect. He has been working with Oracle Application Express since its very beginning (HtmlDB 1.5). His main focuses are application development as well as consulting and education regarding Oracle Application Express. In year 2015 he became a member of SIOUG’s executive committee. This year he was selected as a member of the month March at apex.world portal. SUMMARY:The best SQL and PL/SQL features for Developers (APEX Series\, Presentation 12)
DESCRIPTION:SQL and PL/SQL are big topics. Huge! So it is hard to keep up with new features\, and even easier to be unaware of features from older releases. This session will try to correct that. We’ll cover enhancements to SQL and PL/SQL functionality in 12c Release 2 and 18c\, so that you’ll be marching down to your DBA’s office to demand an upgrade. But we’ll also cover some lesser known features that have existed for many years but are underutilized by developers. \nConnor McDonald is a former Oracle ACE Director who has joined the Oracle Developer Advocates Team. Over the past 25 years\, he has worked with systems in Australia\, the United Kingdom\, Southeast Asia\, Western Europe\, and the United States. SUMMARY:Hacking Oracle APEX (APEX Series\, presentation 13)

But most\, if not all\, never explore what an actual attack would look like or the damage it might cause. This session will demonstrate just that—actual Cross Site Scripting and SQL Injection attacks against APEX applications which do a whole lot more than print “hello\, world.” Along with the demonstration\, the session will cover how you can mitigate and prevent these types of attacks. \nScott Spendolini is Vice President of the APEX+ Practice of Viscosity\, NA\, where he manages a team of highly-skilled Oracle APEX developers. SUMMARY:Timecards and Timekeeping in Five Acts: MicroApps in APEX for Web\, Desktop\, Slack\, SMS\, and Voice (APEX Series\, Presentation 14)
DESCRIPTION:Accurate and timely reporting of time is the lifeblood of a services business. In this case study\, we reimagine the classic time card as an APEX Microapp deployed in five different flavors: as a web app\, as a native desktop app\, in Slack (desktop & mobile)\, and as a chatbot on both SMS and Voice. This approach allows the application to utilize any channel to reach out and collect time from team members. \nJerry Ward is a co-founder and managing partner at Texas-based Viscosity North America\, a leading software consulting company focused on cloud applications\, solution architecture\, and development.
