Oracle APEX 21 New Features by Marc Sewtz Oracle Application Express (APEX) is a low-code development platform that enables you to build scalable, secure enterprise apps, with world-class features, that can be deployed anywhere.

Using APEX, developers can quickly develop and deploy compelling apps that solve real problems and provide immediate value.

In this session, we are showing what's new in APEX 21.1, which was released earlier in 2021 and introduce what’s coming in APEX 21.2.

We’ll demonstrate the new maps region, support for spatial data types and the new geolocation item type.

You’ll see several enhancements to Faceted Search, including support for the new Cards region and multi-value columns.

We’ll round out this session with a preview of the new built-in support for progressive web apps (PWA).

Create reusable SQL expressions with SQL macros by Chris Saxon A common criticism of SQL is it lacks composability - the ability to define small units you can combine into larger functions. Oracle Database addresses this with the introduction of SQL macros. These return SQL expressions, enabling you to define reusable components.

Using SQL macros you can SQL templates which you can pass tables, columns, and other values to at runtime. This enables you to build a library of functions to solve common problems, such as finding consecutive rows or the top-N rows per group.

Join this session to learn what SQL macros are, how to define them, and see examples of these in action.

This presentation is for developers and DBAs who want to write better SQL.

Great APEX Grids, the Sane Way by Karen Cannell APEX Interactive Grids are a huge improvement over tabular forms and in many ways a step up over interactive reports, yet many developers are not (yet) realizing the full potential of interactive grids – grids are not just for editing!

This session gives you the key tips you need to maximize your adoption and implementation of interactive grids.
- Are you aware of all the declarative options of grids and making best use of them?
- Can you confidently alter or extend grid toolbars, headers and features?
- Are your grids consistent within your applications, and across applications?

If you hesitate on any of these questions, you need this session. Learn how to maximize the use of grid declarative features, how to confidently extend grid toolbars, headers or features, and how to deploy consistent professional grids within and across applications, the sane way.

Improving security in Oracle APEX application by Anderson Ferreira In this session, it will be explained the concepts of URL Tampering, SQL injection and Cross-Site Scripting (XSS). It will be shown some attacks and how to protect against them. The session will be a story telling in which the attacker will gain more and more access to an APEX application.

The session is divided in:
1) Introduction
2) URL Tampering
3) SQL Injection
4) Cross-site scripting
5) Conclusion

Why PL/SQL is still the best data access language by Connor McDonald Another year goes by, and most likely, another data access framework has been invented.

It will claim to be the fastest, smartest way to talk to the database, and just like all those that came before it, it will not be. Because the best database access tool has been there for more than 30 years now, and that is PL/SQL.

Although we all sometimes fall prey to the mindset of "Oh look, a shiny new tool, we should start using it", the performance and simplicity of PL/SQL remains unmatched.

This session looks at the failings of other data access languages, why even a cursory knowledge of PL/SQL will make you a better developer, and how to get the most out of PL/SQL when it comes to database performance.

Visual Web and Mobile App Development with Oracle Visual Builder by Shay Shmeltzer Oracle Visual Builder provides a cloud based platform to develop and host web and mobile apps based on HTML5/JavaScript.

In this demo focused session we'll give you an overview of the platform, the architecture, and the development experience.

Visual Builder is the development tool for the next generation of Oracle Cloud Apps - attend this session to learn how you can leverage the same platform for your own apps.

Oracle APEX and REST API: Your imagination is the limit by Rutvik Prajapati Web services are a powerful construct of modern application development.

They are everywhere and depending on your specific requirements you either create or use them.

Oracle APEX provides very good support for REST API and opens up a whole new world for developers: from creating an application that relies completely on external resources to integrating third-party features in your application, you can develop great features and solve many problems by integrating web services in your application.

Do you want to see how to integrate into anything you want?

Join me in this session where I'll explain the basics of REST API, will show how easy it is to use REST API using Oracle APEX, and then I will show you what I managed to accomplish by integrating Telegram API and solved a real-world problem.

Creating and Configuring Node.js Applications for Oracle Database by Christopher Jones Node.js and TypeScript users will learn how to use Oracle's node-oracledb module to write efficient applications and services for Oracle Database.

Learn about configuration and connection management.

See how best to work with relational data and also with Oracle's latest document-style JSON features.
