Moving from Exadata to ExaCC - What I learned?

Event: Connect 2022
Stream: Architecture, Cloud Database & Technology

Working with Exadata since 2010 show me several things, hidden features, tips and tricks, and tons of daily lessons. But since I started to work with ExaCC, what I could pass from the on-prem Exadata to the new ExaCC world? And what have I learned? In this session, I will show some important technical detail about this new ExaCC world. Let’s discuss how to create databases using ExaCC/OCI tools, JSON, domains, and several other details that can help you to decide to use (or not) ExaCC. But not just that, architecture datils for CPU calling and even protection to each MAA blueprint, everything will be covered here. And forgot about the marketing session, here we will talk and show technical details.

There is no MAA without ZDLRA!

Event: Connect 2021
Stream: Architecture, Cloud Database & Technology

Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance (ZDLRA) is an Engineered System and part of MAA family too. But do you know that is the only product listed to be used in all MAA architectures, from Bronze to Platinum? And do you know why? The focus is talking about the MAA architecture references and understands why RTO and RPO concepts are so important. Why (and how) you, with a single ZDLRA, bring down RPO to zero for all of your databases. This session is not about ZDLRA features, but why you need to look at ZDLRA beyond just a fast backup perspective. I am not an Oracle employee, so, do not expect a marketing presentation. I will show you how to integrate ZDLRA and why you need to consider it for your next MAA architecture design.

Tips & Tricks of using Exadata since 2010

Event: Connect 2021
Stream: Architecture, Cloud Database & Technology

Exadata is in the market for 11 years and a lot of sessions talk about how to use smart scan, HCC, and how good these features are. But this session is not about that. Working with Exadata since 2010 in this session I will share some tips and tricks about details/features/topics that are not widely seen in other sessions. In this session I will discuss how IORM is more important than just slice the resource, what are and how important the storage metrics are (and how to read and understand them). Also, details about ASM features that can help when an outage occurs and tricks about the Exadata patch. The session is not about ExaCC, but you can use a lot of things from this session as well.
