Offline APEX Apps
APEX has evolved significantly from its origins as simple HTML pages. It now supports responsive, well-designed applications with the Universal Theme, optimized for mobile devices.
The PWA features of APEX allow for native-like tight integrations with the operating system, like push notifications and access to the device hardware.
The next step for APEX is to allow users to use the apps without an active internet connection.
This session will mostly be a live demonstration.
I will additionally discuss theoretical challenges like the differences between offline-first and online-first approaches and the challenges of handling potential data synchronization conflicts. | Video |

Integrating with MS Teams using APEX & ORDS
Integrating Teams with your APEX Applications can produce some exciting results, including:
- Sending richly formatted cards from APEX to a Teams Group and receiving responses to actions on the cards back into your database.
- Messaging your ERP System from Teams to get real-time information.
- Building simple Teams Chatbots to fetch data from just about anywhere.
In this session, I would like to help other APEX developers understand what is possible and how Microsoft Teams can be integrated with their APEX Applications.
Attendees will learn how to configure Teams Incoming Webhooks to post messages to Teams from APEX and the Oracle Database. They will also learn how to make these messages actionable so that users can respond to the message directly from Teams.
Attendees will also learn how to configure Teams Outbound Webhooks to allow Teams users to send messages to a REST Endpoint securely. They will see how to configure the REST Endpoint using ORDS and process and action these messages from Teams using PL/SQL.
Demonstrations
- Demo of an Incoming Webhook that sends data from APEX to a Teams Group. users in that group can respond to the message, and the data will be returned to the Oracle DB Via an ORDS API.
- Demo of an Outbound Webhook which allows users to send questions from a Teams chat directly to an ORDS endpoint and have the database respond with data from an APEX Application. | Video (LinkedIn)

APEX Blueprint - build your apps the right way
You want to build reliable, maintainable and scalable applications?! In my career I have worked on hundreds of APEX apps for various clients. Most of them had this pattern: queries on page, processes on page, duplicated regions along with these queries, sometimes even whole pages. Not to mention duplicated CSS and JavaScript code. Rarely I see a view or a package being used. Same cloned code on multiple places getting hard to maintain, prone to errors. Sounds familiar? So how can we make it better? How can we eliminate code duplication? We will learn and discuss how you can leverage the MVC design pattern to build readable, maintainable and scalable APEX applications. It will save you time, it will be easier for your junior resources to pick it up, there will be less errors and few other benefits. The session will be full of comparisons, practical demo examples and few added tips and tricks so you can immediately start building apps with improved standards and principles. I will show you the whole blueprint and we will touch on the CI/CD process. | Video |

Oracle's SQLcl Liquibase Success Story
Discover how Oracle’s SQLcl Liquibase was seamlessly integrated without disrupting established practices. With our client dealing with an application spread across numerous customers and inconsistent databases, I’ve found a solution that requires no or minimum additional training for a customer. This presentation showcases a strategy that allowed uninterrupted work while revolutionising database management. I will unveil SQLcl Liquibase features that harmonise diverse environments, lead to shorter release cycles, reduce repetitive bugs and enhance development efficiency and reliability. | Video |

APEX will make you sweat! A job well done or embarrassment - good and bad practices at APEX!
I heard from my brother-in-law that game developers at a well known company create a famous game title, halfway through development, delete everything, and start over. Maybe this practice would also be useful when creating applications in APEX? | Video |

Hard to say goodbye to Oracle Forms?
The software development tool Oracle Forms has been well-established for many years as a fast and efficient solution for designing and building business applications. However, over time, more modern user interfaces with different user experiences and the ability to adapt to various screen sizes have emerged in the market and Oracle Forms is not able to follow these modern user experience approaches. On the other hand, we have existing users who find it difficult to give up the advantages of this technology. These users are accustomed to its robustness and ease of use. Thus, we find ourselves at a turning point where, due to new user experience standards, Forms has become an outdated technology that needs to be replaced. Since it involves a technological change, automatic migration is almost impossible as it requires thoroughly revising the "legacy" code and adapting it to a different technology. A comprehensive migration of user interfaces is a time-consuming process that demands considerable effort to achieve the goal. This brings us to the idea of gradual migration, a hybrid approach that would provide a similar user experience to the end user with a gradual transition to new technologies. We will tell you a story on how we approached modernization of large enterprise Oracle Forms application with more than 4000 forms to Apex with seamless transitions from Forms to Apex pages and vice versa all inside one application. | Video |
